Life Events — Care Fees
Who pays for care?
If you live in England and have assets of more than £21,000 you must pay for your personal care. In Wales, Scotland and Northen Ireland the limits vary but not much.
If you have below £12,750 (England) then you may be fully funded by Social Services.
Between £12,750 and £21,000 there is some help.
Nursing care, as long as you are being cared for in a Nursing Home, is generally paid
If you can afford to pay for your care you have a range of choices. You may choose to live at home and buy in the asistance you need or you could move to a residential home The cost of private residential care can vary in the same way that a bed and breakfast hotel costs less than a five star luxury one.
An understanding and knowledgeable adviser can make certain you make the most of your money and help you establish what is affordable.
No point in staying at the Ritz for a month if you have nothing left at the end but there is equally no point in opting for the cheapest when you could enjoy a touch of luxury, particularly if the only beneficiary will be the capital taxes office.
